International certification of continuing education
EVALAG developed the certification procedures for continuing education programmes and institutions in 2015 and has carried out 28 certification procedures since its implementation.
Accordingly, our range of services includes both the institutional certification of continuing education institutions and the certification of individual continuing education programmes. Both certification procedures are carried out as peer review procedures. Certification is awarded for eight years.
The final decision on certification and the awarding of the seal lies with the EVALAG Certification Commission.
Institutional certification of academic continuing education institutions
Institutional certification(PDF) verifies and confirms that an institution has effectively established procedures, processes and instruments for the quality assurance of its programmes.
Certification criteria are:
- Objectives and profile of the institution,
- Governance and management,
- resources,
- teaching and learning and
- quality assurance.
Certification of academic continuing education programmes
The certification of academic continuing education programmes(PDF) verifies the congruence of the concept and qualification objectives as well as the effectiveness of the implementation. The certification confirms that the intended qualification objectives and the desired competence profile can be achieved and determines at which level of the German Qualifications Framework (DQR) these competences can be classified.
The certification criteria are
- Programme profile,
- curriculum,
- examination system,
- organisation of the continuing education programme,
- resources and
- quality assurance.

Legal basis
The assessment takes into account the quality standards of the German Society for Scientific Continuing Education (DGWF) and the Baden-Württemberg Continuing Education Network. The criteria also take into account the international standards in accordance with ESG (European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area, Part 1) and are based on the recommendations for quality development in university continuing education from Swissuni (02.10.2009).
Does the institution already have quality assurance procedures in place? We are happy to take this into account when designing the procedure!

We are active!
We have been involved in scientific continuing education for almost 10 years. Integrated into the (scientific) community, we shape the discourse in working groups or through publications and lectures and, last but not least, through the development of quality standards and the implementation of procedures.
