The organs of the Foundation are the Foundation Board, the Chief executive officer, the Accreditation Commission and the Appeals Commission.
The Board consists of
- eight external experts, who are appointed by the Minister for Science in consultation with the Rectors’ Conferences of the Universities, Universities of Applied Sciences and Universities of Education in Baden-Württemberg,
- a non-voting member appointed by the Minister for Science who can send a representative and
- the chairperson, an external personality appointed by the Minister for Science in consultation with the Rectors’ Conferences of the Universities, Universities of Applied Sciences and Universities of Education in Baden-Württemberg.
The Board decides concerning the strategy and matters of fundamental significance. This includes in particular the assurance of internationally recognized evaluation and accreditation standards, participation in the development of procedures and instruments for quality assurance and quality management in research and teaching as well as the on-going development of the Foundation’s field of activities.
The Chief Executive Officer is in charge of the routine business of the Foundation. He/she prepares the Board’s resolutions and implements them.
The Accreditation Commission is responsible for all accreditation-related tasks in connection with the accreditation of international study programmes and quality assurance systems of higher education institutions.
The Appeals Commission reviews formal objections against resolutions and decisions regarding national and international accreditation, certification as well as evaluation procedures.
